The Foundation Nijkerk Schenectady received the ANBI status from the Inland Revenue office as of 01-010-2012.
Tax benefit by ANBI status
Gifts to charity are deductible under certain conditions. One such condition is that the charity is recognized by the Inland Revenue Office as General Benefit Institution (ANBI).
If recorded by a notary public that you donate a certain amount of money to the foundation for five years, you will receive a tax exemption. In case of periodic donations to charities the Inland Revenue Office uses the following rules:
– Donates a total minimum of € 60, – per year to charities and this figure is between 1% and 10% of your total income, you may deduct these donations from taxation.
– At a regular donation, however, you may deduct the entire donation, regardless of the size of the amount. There is in this case, therefore, no threshold! The Inland Revenue Office does have a few other conditions: the donation period is at least five years and periodic donation must be recorded in a notary’s deed.

6. The Library
The library of Nijkerk, Frieswijk Street 99, owns a number of books on Schenectady donated by the library from our American sister city.
There are 40 books, written by authors from Schenectady and the surrounding area. Besides children’s books you can find books about the history and nature of this American city.
